My name is Julie Mueller. I am a relatively new faculty member of Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario in the Faculty of Education. I was excited to see several Canadian participants here. I am a member of the subgroup SITE and have been so pleased with the work they do and the international connections. I teach the Learning and Child Development classes to pre-service primary/junior teacher education candidates but my research interests include the integration of technology in elementary and secondary classrooms. I am having difficulty negotiating the number of networking sites that are available but am trying this space as it is unique to education.
Greetings! I am Sue Renes, Assistant Professor from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I teach graduate courses in our Counseling Department in face to face, video-conference, audio-conference, and online formats. Distance education is vital to us given our huge state and lack of road system to many rural villages. I am here to learn more about improving learning with technology, as I am a true believer. I received my PhD from Capella University and believe my education was superb in so many ways.
Hello everybody. My name is Noureddine.28 years old. I've got BA in English Literature and Linguistics. I'm interested in learning new ideas concerning teaching and learning via technology to apply in my classes.I attended some local ICT seminars but need to know more on the international level.
I am a physician from the UK with an interest in the postgraduate education of doctors. I am an honorary senior lecturer in diabetes education at Cardiff University and helped set up an international, online, distance learning course in diabetes www.diabetesdiploma.com. I'm a director of OnExamination.com, a company I co-founded in 2001 to train doctors to pass their exams and is now part of the BMJ Group. I am also editor of BMJ Case Reports - a specialist online journal for medical case reports. So, I have a niche interest in health professional education.
I have built my career on using and developing e-learning but I still have a large amount of scepticism around the novelty of "new" learning "theories" and "techniques" and their possible efficacy. I'm attracted to this community because you seem to be interested in a lot of the research and new technologies that I am interested in.
We do spend a bit of time looking at the new and novel...but the focus is on trying to find a solid base on which to make decisions. Today's buzzwords and emerging technologies are too fluid to serve that role. The challenge involves stripping away the hype (and sometimes adding to it!) and focusing on those elements that are more substantive.
I am Teresa, an art teacher from Portugal. Trying to implement e-learning in art teacher training courses , but not all are digital immigrants , the great majority do not like e-leaning because they are not interested in ICT , the few who collaborate ae keen in new experiences
