Fahriye,
I see we are neighbors as well as doctoral students with a similar area of interest. Please contact me via email so we can discuss our work.

Thank you.
Warm wishes,
Nellie

Yes, I think that most of the barriers occur because the designers don't attend to many of these 'teachable moments' that occur between 'stages' like the ones mentioned in Salmon's model. Thank you again for pointing me towards it.

Best,

Sean

Hmm - can't get Farnham's paper on here. But it's Designing for Improved Social Responsibility. You can get it on Microsoft Research's page.

Fahriye,

Thank you for pointing me to Salmon's five stage model. It looks very interesting. It is not something I had encountered before. I had no background in eLearning, so when I went to build out our online connectivity tool last summer I went into pure 'community building' and 'online community building research.' There are two papers I found very helpful, one by Peter Kollack, and, one by Shelley Farnham. Actually, they both had a number of good papers. But I will see if I can upload the papers here.
