About...

Stefanie Panke studied Philosophy, Linguistics, Literature, Computational Science and European Studies at the University of Bielefeld, Germany. After her Master’s degree, she worked on various e-learning projects at the Bertelsmann Foundation and contributed to the web magazine “europa-digital.” From 2003 to 2008 Stefanie Panke joined the academic staff of the Knowledge Media Research Center, (http://www.iwm-kmrc.de). The interdisciplinary institute has an international reputation for research on e-learning. Her project group developed the educational Web portal e-teaching.org, a comprehensive website on technological, didactical and organizational aspects of e-learning in higher education. As an adjunct teacher, she lectured media psychology at Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences.

Stefanie is currently completing her PhD on the information design of educational websites. As a freelance e-learning consultant Stefanie conceptualizes, develops and evaluates community Web sites and e-learning material. Her personal interests lie at the crossroads of community building, computer mediated communication and learning activities in digital environments. Her main research foci have been e-learning, evaluation of information environments and user behavior in social software. Stefanie serves as a member of several program committees (ED-MEDIA, E-LEARN, ECEL) and as a reviewer for MERLOT Journal of Online Learning and Teaching.
